Set in a 3D cardboard universe, Phonopolis is a story-driven adventure puzzle game with hand-drawn graphics. Assist Felix in releasing an entire dystopian city—inspired by avant-garde art—from the Leader’s control by solving a variety of challenges.
You’ll be able to employ heralds to solve riddles involving other characters as Felix stops responding to commands. Additionally, you will engage with the cardboard world in unexpected and surprising ways, such as shredding paper curtains, turning walls, moving floors, and using other mechanisms. Every problem offers a distinct challenge that is unlike any other and is skillfully incorporated into the surrounding environment.
The independent team behind Machinarium, Creaks, Samorost, and many more, Amanita Design, is pleased to present Phonopolis, a brand-new hand-drawn puzzle adventure.
Cardboard Dystopia:
The ubiquitous heralds in the dystopian metropolis of Phonopolis control people’s daily lives. Residents cooperate to accomplish the authoritarian leader’s lofty objective by following his orders. The Absolute Voice will soon be heard; it will be so strong that it will permanently rob all inhabitants of humanity.
The interwar period’s avant-garde artistic movements, including constructivism, futurism, and suprematism, served as inspiration for the game’s art style, which also represents their social impact as propaganda weapons. Tomáš Dvořák (also known as Floex), who composed the soundtracks for Samorost 3 and Machinarium, brings vivid images to life.
Key Features:

• A cardboard 3D universe that was hand-drawn.
• Conventional animation, akin to vintage stop-motion movies, at 12 frames per second.
• A range of puzzles incorporated into a paper-based setting.
• Tomas Dvořák’s music (Samorost 3, Machinarium), who goes by the moniker Floex.
Felix, the young garbage man, is the only one who knows about the threat by accident, or possibly fate. He now has to make an effort to prevent the Leader from making every citizen into a mindless servant. The game Phonopolis examines individualism and societal manipulation while keeping a lighthearted and informal tone, drawing inspiration from the writings of George Orwell and Karel Čapek.
Fonopolis, a city constructed of actual cardboard, is an old hymn with a modern twist that alludes to an idealistic, dictatorial social structure. Every structure, figure, and even a frame of smoke or flame is hand-drawn on paper and then digitized for usage in the 3D game environment, capturing the nostalgic appeal of vintage stop-motion movies.
